Taken on the road to Texas. Got treated to this view from the roadside just outside Las Cruces, NM.
Zeke and I are packing up and hitting the road tomorrow, so we took a farewell hike through some trails we hadn’t walked before. Pretty hard to believe this is in the middle of the city – and, on a day like today, it’s hard to believe we want to leave. But once the thermometer starts topping 100 consistently, I think we won’t be TOO sad.
Quick trip (for me) down to Houston to celebrate Ashley’s BFF’s wedding. Weddings are a different story with a baby around, but luckily grandma was able to whisk him away at the perfect moment. Leaving us to dance and party with what must be the funkiest Houston wedding band of all time – Fried Ice Cream. If you find yourself getting married in Houston any time soon, I highly recommend them.
So we bit the bullet and decided to move up to Minneapolis. Which means that our summer plans that were forming got changed, which ended up meaning that Ashley and Will are going to be heading to Minnesota via a Texas wedding. I’m going to the wedding, too, but I’ll come back to AZ to pack things up and take the car and dog up to Minnesota, while they stay in Texas and visit with family.
Long story short: we went to the park to say a fond farewell and have a goodbye gelato.
Ashley took off for a weekend bachelorette party not too long ago, so when her mom came to visit she offered to let me escape for a night. I went down to Tucson for a little bike n’ camp. A quick foothills ride in the heat of the Friday afternoon, overnight at Catalina State Park, then over Gates Pass to the gravel road through Saguaro National Park on Saturday morning. So sweet.
My parents came to visit so what should we do? Leave them with the baby and rent a tandem from the Bicycle Cellar, of course!
Haven’t been out in a while for various reasons, like laziness and can’t-get-out-of-the-house-itis. Feels good to get back on the bike. Except that my legs hurt.
Baby’s first spring training game.
