Upcoming medlib round hosted here!

The next (October) edition of medlib rounds will be hosted on my blog. It’s a great honour to be able to be part of this blogging community and I’m excited to have been asked to host it.

That being said, it’s obvious from my own blog as well as the chatter on Twitter that we are in the midst of one of the busiest times of the year for librarians and pretty much any other academic-type. At academic libraries and health centers, the new term is just getting underway which means a lot of teaching, presentations and new students with new questions and issues. At my office and others like it, it’s grant season, which means everyone is running around trying to get letters of support written, signature pages signed and their CVs in order.

In an effort to acknowledge the timing, but also to encourage participation in the round, I’d love to see posts on new things you’re trying out this year: new projects, teaching sessions, innovative services. Maybe it’s something tried and true that you’d like to reflect on. And this goes for anyone starting out fresh this term, not just librarians! We should all be brimming with enthusiasm; the doldrums of winter have yet to set in. If you can find the time to reflect and even just write up your busy workday, I’ll do my best to weave them all together. I, for one, hope to describe some of the projects that I’m involved with at my new workplace. But remember, this “theme” is only a suggestion, we’d be happy to see any contributions that you think would be of interest–new or old.

I hope the beginning of everyone’s school year is off to a great start! I look forward to the submissions. The deadline for submission is Friday, October 8, 2010 which gives a solid couple of weeks to write something new, or look through your archives for something you’d like to contribute.

You can already start submitting the permalink of your post HERE at the Blog Carnival. Last month’s round is at Guus van der Brekel’s blog, and you can see the medlib round archive at Laika’s MedLibLog as well.

  1. Daniel,

I am doing the November MEDLIB ROUNDS.

Leading up to that time, I am speaking with you at HLABC, speaking in San Francisco on Oct 28th, releasing my survey of social media use in Canada, and doing my real job.

What should I let go do you think?
